People lying in a star formation

Phil

Eric has given me a level of confidence that I couldn’t fathom before I began working with him.  He took someone that previously failed to get past the 40 mile mark in a trail race and led them to a blacklist finish in a single season.  His coaching focused my efforts in training so well for my specific races that I started finishing them while running fewer miles in training than I had the year before.  He’s a truly remarkable coach that makes me believe in myself and inspires me to reach for even loftier goals the longer we work together.

Kaylee

Eric is genuinely the best thing that has happened to my running career. I went from an average “here to finish the race” kind of runner to an actual competitor. Since I started with Eric when I was 18, I have qualified for the USA 24-Hour National Team, raced in world championships, and been ranked nationally and internationally in long distance. Aside from just the running aspect and making plans, Eric really cares about his athletes and it shows. He is the best coach I could ask for.

Lyle

Eric has figured out how to get my training in. It's not all about the amount of miles, it's how you do the miles. He knows when you need the big miles and when your body needs rest. I try to not be a needy athlete but knowing he's available to chat and truly cares is reassuring.

I’ve been working with Eric for a year now, and in that time, I haven’t just become a better runner—I’ve become a better version of myself.

When I first started working with Eric, I knew I had ambitious goals, but I honestly had no idea what I was truly capable of in this sport. I’m still figuring that out, but Eric has been there every step of the way, believing in me even when I didn’t always believe in myself.

Whether it’s listening to me complain about a workout, pushing me harder when he knows I have more to give, helping me navigate the world of ultra running, or simply reminding me to look at the bigger picture when something doesn’t go my way, Eric has been an incredible coach and an even better mentor. He somehow manages to put up with all my drama while still keeping me focused on what really matters.

I was never a runner. I didn’t truly start running until about eight years ago, and when I began, I didn’t even know what a track workout was. I hated running in circles and speed work was probably the last thing I ever wanted to do. Eric taught me why those things matter and, more importantly, pushed me completely outside of my comfort zone. He helped me learn how to train like an actual athlete—not just someone who runs.

I had tried coaching before finding Eric, and while it was okay, I never really felt like I was getting that personalized connection. With Eric, it’s so much more than being handed a training plan. He genuinely pays attention, checks in, listens, adapts, and makes you feel like your goals matter to him.

But what sets Eric apart the most is that he truly believes in you. Not just when things are going well, but when training gets hard, confidence gets shaky, or a race doesn’t go according to plan. He has a way of seeing potential in me that I don’t always see in myself, and that belief has made such a huge difference in my journey.

I ran competitively and for fun in my youth and decided during a health journey 20 years later, I wanted to get back into it. The first picture is my very first race before having Eric as my coach. I didn’t have a lot of muscle, I was about 25 lbs heavier, and using an online program to help plan runs. My longest distance at that time was only about 8-10 miles. Fast forward a year: muscle gain and definition, achieving distances I have never imagined I’d achieve. I wouldn’t be able to do this with Eric’s wisdom, advice, and training plans. The proof is in the pictures!

Working with Eric has been a real game changer for me. Not only did he provide structured training plans to get me into shape, he helped grow my confidence in myself as well. With Eric, I was able to achieve 6 national age group records with one being a world best.

As an aging athlete and back of the pack runner, I never really thought hiring a coach would be for me. I would just “figure it out” as I went along. There were races that I’d put on my calendar and struggle to train for them. I wouldn’t be consistent; I didn’t want to do speed work; and I had all the excuses. I decided that I needed to change something if I wanted to achieve the big dreams I had. I began looking for a coach. Hiring Eric was an easy decision. The manner in which he described running, the way he supported and talked about his athletes, his accomplishments… it all culminated in my reaching out, despite my fear – my fears of not being enough, not being “worthy” to coach, all the nonsense we tell ourselves. Working with Eric has held me accountable to my workouts, to someone else, and most importantly, to myself. It also has allowed me to feel confident when toeing the line of a races, to finish strong, and to see progress in many different areas of my running. I now look forward to challenging myself with the workouts I receive. The encouragement and thorough planning I am provided with is invaluable. I would highly recommend any looking for a coach to reach out to Eric. It may just be the difference you need to see yourself achieving goals, not just dreaming about them.

Nichole

I am a completely different person now than when I started coaching with Eric.

I’ve been a runner for a long time, but I never had the right structure. I am not elite or extremely fast – I have to work hard. Somewhere along the way, I knew that I wanted to go further. I wanted to run 100 miles. I wanted to stand at the start line of big, scary races where a finish is certainly not guaranteed. I looked on from a distance watching athletes I admire, wishing I could do it too. Eric was the first person I finally told out loud what I wanted to achieve, and from that moment on, it was never a question. He knew I would do it before I knew. He pushed me through training and not only made me faster, stronger, and an overall more well-rounded and experienced athlete, but he believed in me and saw my potential when I couldn’t.

Now, I’ve completed the PA Triple Crown and Black List, and have no plans of stopping this pursuit of becoming a better athlete and taking on big races and goals that scare me. And it’s all thanks to Eric, his coaching, his support, and his influence on me. Sometimes I get whiny, sometimes I need pep talks, but Eric gets me grounded and reminds me what’s important. If you want a coach that will stand in your corner, you’ve found him.
